Winter favourites

Winter is coming to an end, so I want to share some things I found valuable during the last couple of months.

I love reading what other people find useful, so I thought I would do a similar post. I hope you like it ๐Ÿ™‚

1. THE 5 SECOND RULE book by Mel Robbins

I love books, but with a busier schedule, I couldn’t read as much as I used to. Nonetheless, I had time to read a few books during wintertime and I really enjoyed this one.

It talks about how our brain is wired and why overthinking leads to a point where we don’t do things that are frightening or unknown.

And this resonated with me because I’m definitely an overthinker. 

Developing awareness has helped me in so many different areas of my life, but sometimes I take a little bit too long and I lose the momentum, which results in procrastination or postponement.

So I found this book really helpful, especially because it gives you a tangible tool to work with whenever you find yourself in a downward spiral thinking – you simply say, 5-4-3-2-1 and then take the action step you want/need to take.

No overthinking, no procrastinating, no doubting… just doing!

So if you ever feel like you need a little boost in your everyday life to stop procrastinating and have the courage to face challenges you’ve been postponing for a while, I would definitely recommend this book.


I had an old pair of suede boots and I loved how they looked, but I noticed with time, that I’m not reaching for them on wetter and colder days, which meant they weren’t used as they should be.

So I decided to upgrade them to a more durable leather version for this winter and this was a great decision because I’ve been wearing them all the time.

I used to wear suede boots on warmer drier days and UGGS on wetter days, but with these pair, rain is not a problem anymore, so I believe that I fashionably upgraded ๐Ÿ˜‰

There are many different options available and I went for a flat version so that I can wear them all day long. And even though they don’t have a heel, I still believe they look stylish, which I love, especially in winter months.


This year, I decided to improve my diet and increase the intake of green vegetables and fruits.

I heard about vegetable smoothies before, but I never tried them because it seemed like a lot of unnecessary work and I just taught I could easily eat all the green stuff that I need.

But now that I had them for a while, I can say that I feel the difference!

Yes, I was sceptical that smoothies would have an impact on my energy levels, but now I’ve learned that they do. Even my husband loves them and we have one in the morning because we love how it makes us feel.

I make one with two celery sticks (no leaves), one green apple, a handful of spinach, half of the avocado and 150-200 ml of water to get the right consistency. 

Sometimes I change some things, maybe switch apple with a banana, or add some ginger or kale. 

So if you want to upgrade your diet a little bit and you have a blender at home, maybe you can try it too.


I bought reusable q-tips for myself and my friends and family last Christmas, and now I had some time to use and test them. 

Verdict? I love them. They’re easy to use, easy to clean and they do the job that I want them to do. 

I also bought the beauty version which I’m not as crazy about. Beauty version seems to smudge the makeup that I want to correct, so I learned to wait for makeup to dry before fixing it, which makes it a little bit better, but not perfect. I still enjoy using them though because I feel great about not buying disposable ones.

So if you’re thinking about upgrading your normal q-tips with reusable ones, I would give the classic ones a go.


I bought a pair in mixed-metal version a while back and I fell in love – I wear them a lot because I love how they make an impact without being too big or heavy.

So when I was filling out a Xmas wishlist to help my husband, I included the original pearl version as well.

The earrings were my favourite item on the whole list and because he knows me very well (or maybe I just hinted one too many times), this is the exact item that I got as a Christmas gift.

Why did I want them that much? First, they’re gorgeous. But most importantly, I knew I could wear them with my previous pair to create four different combinations.

As a minimalist, I love versatility more than anything and this seemed like perfect jewellery to mix and match. So needless to say, I’ve been wearing both pairs most days during winter, and I’m sure I’ll continue to do so throughout the year.
